In other big news, we have decided to sell our house in Indiana and move to North Carolina permanently. Michael and a few friends will go to IN on Tuesday and pack up our house. Dad, Roberta, David and others will go up Thursday to help. They will bring our stuff to VA on Saturday and put most in storage. It will be nice to get some of our stuff down to Durham to make our apartment feel more like home. It will also be nice to have all of my clothes! I hope the move and selling process go smoothly. Michael is also transferring to UNC. They are waiving a lot of the requirements that normal transfer Ph.D. students would have to complete because of the situation. Therefore he's pretty much picking up at UNC where he left off at Purdue and not losing much time. He's glad to be an official Tarheel. He went to the UNC vs. Michigan State basketball game the other night and came home so excited that he couldn't sleep.
Cool fact: For those of you watching college basketball this week you may have noticed that it is "Jimmy V week" on ESPN. Jim Valvano had lymphoma and was actually treated on the 9100 unit of Duke hospital which is the unit I was on during my hospital stays from March-May. I take his words to heart, "Don't give up... don't ever give up."

I know you will be glad when you get things to NC from IN. You can close that chapter and go on the the next one! Michael is also amazing, he fits in anywhere. Such a smart guy.

Lots of info in this blog. We'll pray that the selling of your house and the moving process goes smoothly. Once it's done, it's bound to make ya'll feel more settled to live in one state again. blair's sister....C.A.....carole ann.... ms. putnam (am getting goosebumps and if i had hair; it would be standing on end!!!!)has always scared me.....now, i'm not afraid of nuclear war or circus clowns but this one has always scared me......all three of you cousins look like supermodels to the naked eye but that one????????? why do you think i have always called her LASSIE?????? because i just can't call her carole ann since the incident.....you were very young....it was a night like most every other night but....not???? we were all watching chiller theater.....it twas just past midnight and back then tv went off the air right about now.....when we all started hearing eeerie voices from the tv????? and this midget lady spoke out "go to the light carole ann!!!" not blair, not david, not amy.....carole ann!!!!
she did enter the light and then the midget gal (you know the best thing about dating a midget.. you always have a place to rest your beer) said in a squeaky yet commanding voice...."come over, come over...all is welcome all is welcome".....now by now.....the rest of us were shaking in our lil footy pajamas....but not carole ann.....oh no!!!!! she came back from the light with friends....and a truck load of something that looked like ky jelly (but not the preserves kentucky is really famous for because this stuff didn't taste good on toast) and ever since...i have called her lassie....a super intelligent, nice, loyal, sweet, loveable character name......i don't know anybody that don't like lassie?????? now, i don't let her sit on the furniture in my house but i loves her just the same.....would chat some more but i need to go to the vet and get some meds......very funny???? har har har and yes they are for me.....its distemper time!!

ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since we have commented, but we never missed a day praying for you. Today in church you were lifted up in prayer. It was so strong and so powerful....it was another moment where it as if your spirit was there in front of the church and you were being annointed.
I can't explain in words what a role model you have been and continue to be for my girls. We were talking today and Savannah said "Mommy, Amy must be a warrior." and I said "What is a warrior Savannah?" She said "Someone who fights and fights until they just can't fight anymore." I told her she was exactly right, but that she didn't have to worry about Amy not fighting anymore because I knew you have so much more in you. She said "Mommy that is so AWESOME! YES!" SHe loves you and is inspired by you constantly. We all are. Good luck with this next round of chemo...we will be praying extra hard that the side effects stay at bay.
