Hi everyone,

I am now on a morphine pump so it's not my fault if certain things in this blog do not make sense. We have not received the biopsy results yet but the general consensus of the doctors is that I have disseminating Zoster virus, which is a fancy term for chicken pox. The deal is that you cannot catch shingles from chicken pox but you can catch chicken pox from shingles. So I gave myself chicken pox. I had chicken pox when I was in elementary school but having a bone marrow transplant causes one to lose any built up immunities. They are pretty painful in some places so they put me on a morphine pump this morning- they're not painful anymore. I'm still having fevers which we do not know the cause. Mouth sores are popping up and I do not have much of an appetite but I have not had any nausea yet (fingers crossed).

Michael has a cold so he cannot come see me but hopefully that will clear up soon. We have no idea when I will get out. They have to get the fevers to stop before we can consider that happening. We are just hoping that it is before Christmas.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season,

  1. So glad that morphine pump is helping, no need to suffer any more than necessary. I hate you are getting mouth sores, they are not very pleasant, but neither are those pox. I think you have set a record, giving yourself chicken pox!! Now, the record we want to see set is how fast you can get over everything and get out of there. So anxious to see you.
    Love you bunches,

  2. Amy,
God bless your sweet heart!! I am praying that the news of Christmas: that God broke into our real world (with all of its ups & downs, joys & heartaches) to be with us and save us -- that this news will touch your heart with gladness!
    God love you and Michael!
    May he get well soon!

  3. dear amy,

  4. hope the fever comes down, so you can go home before christmas, but i'm sure you brighten the hall up where you are!! i think they need to hire David to come there for therapy for the patients, what a hoot!! he should have his own show for sure. wishing for a good day for you, and thanks for the holiday wish, you are amazing!! we love you, genie and eddie

  5. Hey Pretty Lady,
I wish I could blame my not making sense most times on a morphine pump. Alas, that is not the case... Middle age I'm thinking LOL I'm not into using that "O" word YET!
Prayers are that you get over all that nasty YUCK and get home very very soon. Michael needs you to take care of him :)
    Love and prayers,
