So since Monday my white blood count has risen to 2.5. My platelets are also increasing daily without transfusions which means I am making my own platelets! The throat and mouth sores are still here. I'm still at the point where everything I try to eat makes me cry after a few bites (even ice cream). However, I've been told that I will feel like a new person very soon.

To add some excitement to our day yesterday I had a little accident: I fell out of the shower and hit my head on the toilet. Don't worry, I'm fine - you now have permission to laugh and make fun of me. Dr. Chao told me this morning he was going to get me a football helmet. They did do a CT Scan of my head just in case, but it was fine. I find it interesting that the showers in a hospital are extremely slippery.

The big news of the day is that Dr. Chao said he was hoping to discharge me on Monday or Tuesday. So if everything goes smoothly I could be out of here much sooner than we expected - obviously we're very excited. Mom is working on all the things that need to be done before I come home to the apartment. The carpets and couch have to be professionally cleaned, the duct work needs cleaned, etc. We have to be very careful over the next 6 months or so because of the immunosuppressents I will be on.

  1. Tell the doctor it must be a packer helmet!! glad you are ok, need to put some strips in that shower for them!! You are doing so great, it is amazing. We are all so proud, tell Mom to get with it so you can go "home". This is wonderful news. Love you, Genie and Eddie

  2. Ohhhhhhhhh AMY!!!!! I am so excited. This is GREAT NEWS and surely an answer to many prayers.
You are so amazing. I see you can join Alan's club of falling :) Glad YOU didn't break anything.
Keep up the GREAT work, Young Lady. We love you.

  3. Wonderful, wonderful news, Amy! I am sure your mouth and throat sores will soon be healed and just be a distant memory. Stay strong and stay focused. I can't wait to hear when you will be out of the hospital and in your own place. Hello to your Mom, Dad and Michael for me.
    Jackie Cheatham

  4. HALLALUYA however you spell that!!!!!

This is such wonderful news-and if you need it I will get the packer helmet-thank God you are in his care and such good docs etc-to say the least this has been what Adam the author calls a comedy of terrors-

Try and behave today and home is coming soon!

    love to all-

  5. Hey,
This is the first time I have be able to post for a month, yipee! Time is passing, probably too slow for you, but it won't be long until you'll be a "freebee". It's been a long 4 weeks, but so many great things are happening,
you are truly amazing! I hope this weekend is a good one for you and that you'll be able to eat real food. Good things happen to good people, and you are on your way! I love you and Michael dearly.

  6. Shazam! What great news!

Watch that shower, might want to send someone out for a non-slip mat! I get to pick up some kids from camp tomorrow and Duane comes home tonight. The house won't be so quiet for at least a couple of days. I can't wait to share your good news with everyone!

  7. Amy, this is such great news and I sincerely hope that everything keeps going in the right direction and that you do get to go home, its so much better to be home recuperating than in a small hospital room. I know that Michael and your mom can take very good care of you. Love ya lots, Karen, Tim and Hollee

  8. Amy- We keep up with you every day, so our prayers and praises are current. Praise God for your 4.0 white blood count today! You'll be home before you know it. God bless you. David & Candy

Glad to see all your 'numbers' continue to rise!!! Just one can someone walk on a moving treadmile a mile + a day but can't stand still in a shower??? JUST KIDDING. When Keith,Maddi and I were living with mama and daddy for a few months Daddy fell in the shower and broke a rib or two. My My you and Daddy don't have a good track record in the shower.
