Today was a pretty good day for Amy. She rested well last night and some this morning. She even felt good enough to talk a short walk today. Food and drinks are finally starting to have a more normal taste. She is still eating bland foods and small portions. She is really looking forward to having some good food in a few days. The only problem she is having right now is that her eyes are really dry. Not exactly sure if this is a side effect from the chemo or if it is because she has been a little dehydrated. Regardless of what it is from, it is quite annoying as she can only keep her eyes open for a little while at a time. Other than her eyes being dry things continue to go well.

  1. I'm so glad to see that you are feeling better Amy and that this round of chemo is down!! Have they given you any kind of eye drops or anything, maybe some Visene Tears would help? Your dad says you have to stay in the hospital a long time this go round, but that sounds better to me than discharging you too early and risking infection with a weak immune system. Amy you are so strong, and everyone is so proud of how you've handled this without ever complaining or getting too discouraged. You are an inspiration to other leukemia patients everywhere! Hang in there and keep your head and spirits up, you will be better before you know it :)

  2. Hey,
Another day down! I hope your move to the larger room went well and that you will like that room. I'm glad you walked some today, you'll get your strength back soon and maybe be able to have that good food you are craving. We had rain all day, for the third day. I felt lazy. I did go out to take care of your babies, and they even went out for a while before the rain started harder. Hang in there, when you look back on all of this it won't seem so long.
    I love you,
    Grandma

  9. Amy, remember when you were in kindergarten at Sharon and the little leprechaun made a surprise visit while you were at lunch. You would return to the classroom and it was trashed. There was green pee in the toilets; toilet paper thrown all over the room; desks and chairs overturned and gold or green glittered footprints across the rug and up and out the window. The janitors always hated the leprechaun visit. The glitter is impossible to remove. It shows up all year long.
My students in Title 1 from kindergarten and jr. kindergarten bolt into my room yelling "The leprechaun came into my room!" They were all blabbering at once. If I didn't know the story ahead of time, I wouldn't understand their retelling.
Well, Miss Amy, I bring you this childhood memory with pots of gold and green shamrocks to dream about.
    Take care. Maryanne

  10. Hi Amy,
If that leprechaun was at Sharon when you were there, then we have horrible security. He visited my classroom TODAY. Toilet paper, green footprints, green water in the toilet, open escape window... It was all there. Fiesty leprechaun or Crazy teacher? Don't answer that! I guess some things never change. :)

My love and prayers to you , Amy...
    Sherry

  11. Hi Amy,

I stumbled across this page while I was updating my resumes and mathematical lingo of years past.

It's sad to see you have to go through something like this, but looking here it seems your making it so far, and shaved heads aren't so bad, I finally shaved all mine off when I graduated.

I'll send my thoughts out tonight for a speedy recovery when I retreat with the rising twilights.

    Be Strong!

    ~Austin
