Not a lot of news to report. Amy is feeling pretty good. Her eyes are slowly staring to feel better. She continues to be frustrated over the fact that nothing tastes like it should taste. Almost everything she has tried to eat she has not liked because nothing tastes normal to her. She did have another bone marrow biopsy yesterday morning. We are still waiting to hear results from this and may not know anything until sometime next week.

  1. Hey Amy,
Glad to hear your eyes are feeling some better. Hope your "taste" returns soon too...that must be awfully frustrating...but hang in there...it'll get better and you're a strong young lady.
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you and Michael know how proud I am of you both and that you're thought of often with love...

  6. Good morning Amy and all-

I am glad you are seeing better! I am so sorry about the weird taste-it is so odd-I remember taking a bite of a banana-which I love-and spitting it out-the taste and texture was vile...everyone is different but I have heard from many that highly seasoned foods appeal-I tried Thai food-it was ok-odd also that most folks do fast food-and many like shakes, soft ice cream, yogurt-I thought of Maw MAw-my nurses kept large quantities of those Lance pnut butter and cheese snack crackers-said lots of folks liked them and helped with nausea-for me-who also loved them-they were ok but not the best

It was hard to predict from week to week or even day to day what might be tolerable-whatever you can tolerate eat lots of that!! I got hooked on caffeine free warm green tea in the mornings-that seemed to work the whole time-also whole wheat cheese toast in the broiler-and I tried and put canadian bacon on it also to get some protein-could not stand egg but this was what I ate for breakfast each day-

Oh-I do remember now that one of my pals in the chemo room liked snickers from the freezer-like Paw Paw Ben-

This is going to pass and you will be thrilled to eat with abandon!!

    Love you all!

  8. Hi Amy. Glad to hear that your eyes are feeling better! The kids continue to ask about your progress. They made some things for you that I'll be sending along shortly. I think you'll be impressed! :-) I wanted to save them to show their parents for parent/teacher conferences on Thursday. I'll send them after that. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

    Fondly,
    Lisa

  9. Glad to hear your eyes are feeling better. And when your taste buds tell you "sour dough bread" just let me know. Hope you're able to see some signs of spring from your room. It's coming in beautifully this year! Lots of love and many prayers are sent to Duke every day.
