This weekend went by quickly. Saturday Amy was still having pain in her left sinus area, so we contacted the nurse and she came over and upped the dosage the pain pump delivers. This seems to have worked and Amy is not having near as much pain as she was. The only problem with upping pain medicine is it makes Amy sleepier, but we will take her sleeping more over her having pain. We watched some football Saturday, and Greg and Amy played trivia games on sporcle Saturday night ( they do pretty good together - Amy gets the newer answers and Greg can answer most of the "oldies").

We have been amazed at the love and support shown to Amy. I hate to leave anyone out and in time I hope to thank everyone, but for now I do want to say a few Thank Yous :
Thank you Blair and Carol for the "happy " Bob Ross Paint Kit you sent, Amy was surprised and enjoyed receiving that -we hope to use it this week.
Thank you to our "only planned cousin in South Carolina" for the many wonderful care packages... nothing goes to waste in them :)
Thank you to Joleen, John, Teagan, Phyllis, Bucky, Wanda, Janice, Bonnie, James, Roberta, David, Gale, Jared, Webbs and Feazells.... everyone ...who worked, helped, ate, stopped by the Bean Supper held for Amy. Roberta has some pictures on her facebook page and it looks like everyone had plenty of good food and company. Wish we could have been there.
Thank you to everyone who's praying for Amy. We do feel strengthened by your love and encouraging words/thoughts sent our way.

love to all
Kathy

  4. hey honey. game sounds fun but i dont know it - love trivia stuff, scrabble, etc. wish i were close enough to come 'play with you' :) i am betting you will be as excellent at your painting ventures as you are everything else. mine usually require a fat brush and a ladder!!! and stick people. yes this fall is gorgeous and i am so glad you were able to open up doors and let some of it in. we will be heading to richmond this weekend to help my sister dismantle her kitchen - as in like hgtv dismantle. a leaking fridge caused major damage that requires big time de-construction. we are with you in love and prayer. as always, jane and david

Like many who Amy's story has touched I did not know her personally. However, my husband and I both kept up with the blog and prayed for you all. She was so brave to share her struggles with others and for you all to share your thoughts and feelings was very kind of you. Praying for you still. John and Tiffany Reynolds

  15. Many thoughts and prayers are with you all tonight. Words fail me with what is in my heart. I am going to post a story I have come across during this long journey we have been on, it does bring tears, but also smiles.

    THE BRAVE LITTLE SOUL

Not too long ago in Heaven, there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. She especially enjoyed the love she saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however, the little soul was sad, for this day she saw suffering in the world. She approached God and sadly asked 'Why do bad things happen, why is there suffering in the world?'

God paused for a moment and replied, 'Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see unlocks the love in people's hearts.' The little soul was confused. 'What do you mean?' she asked. God replied, 'Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences, and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone.'

The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued. 'The suffering soul unlocks the love in people's hearts much like the sun and rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer to unlock this love - to create this miracle - for the good of all humanity.'

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain herself. With her wings, fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied, 'I am brave, let me go. I would like to go into this world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people's hearts! I want to create that miracle!'

God smiled and said, 'You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave, you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this, so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. These souls will help you create your miracle, however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and they will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you. Elizabeth Jane.'

God and the brave little soul shared a smile, and then embraced. In parting, God said, 'Do not forget Elizabeth that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought and, I will bring you home.'

Thus at that moment, the brave little soul was born into the world and through her suffering and God's strength, she unlocked the goodness and love in people's hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those who were always too busy, found time. Many began new spiritual journeys - some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant families reunited and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives were changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle happened. And God was pleased.

Please know you all are being sent so many thoughts of love and so many prayers. Much love and hope always, Kathy and family

  19. Michael, Greg, Kathy, Jean, I love you all so much. I feel so blessed to have been a part of Amy's life, especially lately, and there is a terrible void in my heart tonight. I am thankful for being nearby in the last couple days, as is Dreama, and thankful for the better times with Amy in prior months. I will carry her strength, her faith, her beautiful spirit and her positive attitude with me always. She was an absolute Gift to this world and a reminder that our loved ones are God's Children and not our own. Our time together is so precious. To Kathy Lee above, The Brave Little Soul, is so beautiful and so perfect, and "exactly" what we think about our Amy. Much Love, Robbie

  22. Greg and Kathy...The poise, strength and bravery that Amy showed throughout her entire life is and will always be an inspiration to us all. We all learned a lot from your and God's miracle. How to be sweet, tough, smart and focused. How to live with dignity, determination and drive through the most difficult of times. I'm proud that I had the chance to know her and can only hope that my children have a quarter of the characteristics that made Amy who she was.

God bless and our prayers continue to be with you!

  25. Greg and Kathy, Amy was such an inspiration to all of us, especially during her final struggles. Her bravery and willingness to share such a personal battle and to do it with such grace is a testimony to you, your family, Michael and his family and the many friends she endeared. She was truly a blessing to all she met. I will continue forever to remember her smile that has shown through all the pictures I have seen of her over the last year. She never changed. God bless you all.

  26. Gone is the precious, very special person we knew as Amy, but her memory and witness will go on in many ways. She touched many lives and I know that God fulfilled his purpose in her life, although I do not understand all of it. I will see her again, and what a glorious reunion that will be with her and her granddaddy Clovis. She was the "apple of his eye" and we looked at her as "our little girl", even though she was married to a wonderful person, Michael. From the time they met, he took good care of Amy and we did not have to worry about her at college, or anywhere. God is so good, we will always reap the rewards of her short, but meaningful, life. 27. My thoughts and prayers are with you all today. Amy certainly has been an inspiration to so many during her long battle. We can learn so much from Amy as she took all of the pain and suffering in stride and still maintained a fighting spirit. She will continue to live inside the hearts of each and every individual she touched along the way.

    God bless you all.

  28. I can't quite come up with words to express my feelings to you all. Having to give up someone that you dearly love is hard. God never said life was going to be easy, but we know He is always with us to help us through each and every day. I kept up with Amy's blog and from this I saw the strength God gave to her. She was amazing and a very brave young lady. She has touched so many people and her strength will go on forever. God bless you now and in the days ahead. Prayers and hugs are sent for you all.
