Amy again had a good day yesterday. She finished her last bag of chemo treatment slightly after 9 last night. She is starting to notice some minor side effects (mouth sores, acne, etc.) of all the chemo and steroids that she has had.  The main issue that she is having is that she keeps running a slight fever in the evenings and at nights.  She is currently being treated with two different antibiotics to fight any possible infections.  Due to her body's inability to fight infection they aggressively treat her when she gets a fever.  The policy here is that there is a 48 hour period you have to wait once you spike a fever, before they can release her. So currently it looks as if the earliest possible time she could move to the hotel would be last Thursday night or Friday morning.

  2. Amy and family,
This is Preacher Bill Gilliland, and this blog stuff is new to me, so I hope I can get it to you.
You are all in my prayers and thoughts, especially you. You're a special lady... I knew that from the first time we talked... you were a beautiful bride and I know the world is a better place because you are in it (especially that little world you're in down at UVA). So, let your light shine. Jesus loves and, and I do too, Hope the book I sent will "lift you up."
    Love... Prweacher Bill

  3. Good Morning Amy & Michael,
Hope today will be just as good for you as yesterday was. I was so happy to be able to spend the entire day with you and hope it will be soon that you can go on the "Leukemia Path". Try not to get discouraged, things are going to be much better. Gladys is taking care of your two boys (Roscoe & Winslow) today, but I'll see them tomorrow afternoon. Hang in there, just like you have been doing. I love you both.

  4. Hey there-

Hope today is a good day-Amy, did they get you the prescription magic mouth wash for the sores-that stuff really helped-I can't recall details but I think that is the name of it-have kathy call me if you don't have it-or ask the nurses-could be for you things are different and this would not help-if you want me too though I will find out if it is something my doc cooked up or is generally available

I am praying for the temp to stay down!

    Hope your appetite is good-

    Love to you all!

  6. Amy,

You probably don't remember me but this is Frank Mundy, who worked for your Dad what seems like a lifetime ago. Just wanted you to know that our family which is spread from Lexington, Va to here in Raleigh, NC are praying for you and your family. You're in good hands both at UVA and with the Lord. Keep up the fight!

  7. Hi Amy and Michael,
We all know that you are one HOT MAMA, Amy, but now is the time to cool off a little. I pray that your temp is down and stays that way. Some of my students always ask about you. "How's that girl you used to teach, Mrs. Craft?" Again, Michael, we thank you so much for the very appreciated updates.
    Love and HUGS!

  9. Hey guys! Amy I hope the dual antibiotics will help get rid of that pesky fever. Even though the fever means you will have to stay at the hospital longer, it's really for the best to take every precaution necessary to keep yourself infection free. Ask for some magic mouthwash, my patients love it and it really helps out alot with the ulcers in your mouth. Amy you are an inspiration to everyone. Stay strong and rest up all you can, you need it! I will continue to pray for your blood levels to get where they need to be, and for your fever to subside!
